Black Diamond AutoWerkz Cars and Coffee PT. 3

There’s starting to become a certain “expected” turnout when it comes to these Cars & Coffee events hosted by Black Diamond. There was no shortage of exotics, and a few of these were far from your average off the lot type. Thankfully I woke up a little earlier and decided to rinse the car down, fueled up, and made my way out. Unfortunately this wasn’t a “roll with the windows down” type of morning because Summer seems to be starting early I guess? But after parking, catching up with a buddy of mine who also does media, I grabbed an amazing dirty chai latte from the baristas and went to work, which really doesn’t feel like that’s the right word for what I do.

The more I make it out to events like this, the more I notice the growth that’s happening down here in the RGV. I’m not referring to the high horsepower exotics either – although that is definitely something that’s pretty awesome to see. There’s a large sense of community going on, and events like this are welcoming for automotive enthusiasts of all ages. These morning meet-ups let the people who have been around for a while get together and catch up because life gets hectic sometimes. And it lets the younger crowd see that it isn’t always about causing a scene, “doing it for the gram”, and that parking and appreciating the caliber of vehicles that are out there is always more than enough.

I had planned to talk about the fact that smooth-brain activities are starting to happen here in the RGV, and how “take-overs” are a cancer in the automotive community. But I firmly believe that even negative publicity is still publicity – so with that being said, I encourage people to become involved in the right type of events. The ones that will connect you with like minded enthusiasts, the ones that can motivate you to build something YOU enjoy, and the ones that you’ll probably still notice enjoying this shit years from now. Big thanks to everyone involved in hosting this event, and to those who made it out giving everyone something to do and enjoy in that incredibly hot and humid Saturday morning.
See y’all at the next one!
