11th Annual Downtown Jackson Street Car Show

It’s been a while since I’ve had to experience the whole “first day of school” jitterz when you’re a kid, but I remember the feeling all to well. You’re checking your backpack to make sure you got all your things, make sure you have enough #2 pencils so you don’t have to ask anyone for any, you got that 64 pack of crayons with the sharpener so all the kids can stare at you and obviously talk bad about you behind your back. And after you go through your checklist multiple times (maybe only I did this, whatever), you get in bed…and you can’t sleep. I don’t sleep much these days anyways but the night before this show, I was definitely feeling the exact same way I was when I was a kid getting ready for the first day of school.

The whole, “I’m gonna do more and be more active – I promise” post seems to be a recurring theme here at Gear-Trends, unfortunately haha. I don’t mean to put things on pause as much as I do – but sometimes life happens and some things have to get put on hold so you can focus on others. I’ve always loved photography, and even more so, I’ve always loved cars – so this isn’t something that will ever go away…but I feel like it’s time to honestly give this the ol’ college try. In the past I would complain and pass on the blame about why things would slow down, I’d often come up with the whole “nobody is ready, their cars aren’t done, I’ll just wait for them to come to me” bits. I guess to a certain extent, some of that is true, but that honestly covers maybe less than 5% of the group as a whole. It’s about time I take some part of that blame I’m so good at passing around and go out and find the guys that ARE ready, feel like their car IS done, and find more people like that around here. That means going out to more car shows, not necessarily to go take photos of every one there – but more like a scouting agent looking for those top players back in the high school/college days. The Valley has a ton to offer down here, sometimes we get the trends everyone else is doing a little late – but we get them nonetheless. We have some of the fastest trucks in the nation, some amazing low riders that cruise around that are all into chrome plating almost everything underneath their cars, some well thought out imports and muscle cars, guys that still drag/drift/auto-x/off-road race – all that high performance stuff I’ve been hooked on since I was a kid. It’s time to find those people and get their stories told. With that said, the site will be finally going through some changes, a fresh updated look with finally larger photos so you all can take from here instead of waiting for the ones posted up on Facebook a day later. A new batch of stickers, and hopefully some limited production T-Shirts will be given away to a few select people and hopefully for sale later on. I have a new outlook on all this, maybe it’s because I’m much older and wiser, that can’t be it because I still microwave corndogs instead of throwing them in an oven, but lets just go with me feeling like I’m in my senior year of high school. I got things figured out, I know where I’m finally going with this, and I got the right people around making sure I don’t try and take a year off before I go back to college. Now…onto the damn photos!
