RGV4CYL.NET 7TH ANNUAL MEET

It seems like just yesterday, seriously I’m going to work on my cliché intros, that a few local import sites had lost steam; shit happens and well it seemed like the biggest site out there was done with…then came Rgv4cyl. It almost felt like an over night thing but coming from someone whose been there from the start – it was anything but an overnight project, and although I was not able to attend the 7th annual meet- I’m glad that while looking over the photos and reading about the turnout, things are still going strong!

Like I said previously, I was lucky enough to be a part of Rgv4Cyl since pretty much the beginning – a member, someone who went out to all the hangouts from McAllen to Harlingen, becoming a moderator and later on an administrator on the site – I was always around. The site picked up where the other local sites pretty much left off and although things took a while- it’s a given that if you’re involved in the local import scene- you’re a part of Rgv4Cyl. The forum grew into something huge, those of us who remember “the good old days” will from time to time reference back to a certain post, something that happened on the shoutbox, or bringing up old member names (shutterslut_bob, ek_bob -ej6_bob when I wanted to be technical about things, dc_bob, em1_bob…i had a problem, ok?). How can I forget the rivalries- the shit talking, the times I thought “yeah that thread went a bit too far” – but this being the 7th annual meeting….the people “in charge” now- are still doing something right. Tab, along with those that have helped keep it going all these years, have given the local import community a place to call home. An institution is defined as a social structure in which people cooperate and which influences the behavior of people and the way they live- an institution has a purpose; institutions are permanent, which means that they do not end when one person is gone- Thank you Tab, and everyone else, for the great years of being a part of something that was always bigger then any of us could have ever been alone.
